Wrong-way driver busted on 4th OWI

On Friday, 10/25/13 at approximately 1:12 a.m., a Deputy from the Rock County

Sheriff’s Office observed an SUV driving northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic on S. USH 51 near W. B/R Townline Road.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Thomas Kotlowski, 50, of Janesville.  During the traffic stop the deputy smelled an odor intoxicants coming from Kotlowski’s person and subsequently administered field sobriety tests on Kotlowski. Kotlowski failed the field sobriety tests and as a result was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI).

A check of DOT records revealed Kotlowski had 3 prior OWI convictions. Kotlowski was transported to the Rock County Jail and booked for 4th offense OWI.  Kotlowski’s blood alcohol concentration at the time of his arrest was a .23.

Kotlowski was also cited for Prohibited Alcohol Concentration and Operating Left of Center.
