OWI crash leaves two injured in Dane County

October 21, 2013 - At approximately 5:45 pm on Saturday, October 19th, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to STH 73 at Clarkson Road in the town of York for a single vehicle crash.

The driver, Gerald E. Turley, age 79, was traveling southbound on STH 73 when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree. Gerald was unresponsive and needed to be extricated from his 2003 Mercury Marauder. He was transported to UW Hospital by Med Flight with life-threatening injuries. His passenger, Karen L. Turley, age 70, also needed to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to UW Hospital by Marshall EMS with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Both reside in Waterloo.

Mr. Turley’s condition had been upgraded by Monday morning, and he was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, Causing Injury and cited for Failure to Maintain Control. The WI State Patrol responded to reconstruct the crash, which remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
