Smoke could be seen from a mile away in an apartment fire on Madison's east side late yesterday. Firefighters were called to the eight-unit complex on Loomis Circle just after 7:30.
The fire was stubborn, because it flared up shortly before firefighters were preparing to leave the scene. One firefighter was hurt with an undisclosed injury, but will be okay. None of the people who lived there were injured. It's believed as many as nine residents could be displaced from the blaze.
A damage estimate and cause of the fire are not yet available.
