Federal Judge Rejects Lawsuit Against City Ordinance

MADISON - A newly approved City of Madison ordinance creating a buffer zone outside health care facilities appears safe after a federal judge rejected a lawsuit against it Friday.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, U.S. District Court Judge William Conley denied a motion from anti-abortion groups and activists seeking a temporary restraining order on the ordinance.

Currently, the ordinance mandates a 160-foot protective zone to allow patients to enter and exit without being obstructed by protesters.

The city has 30 days to respond to a preliminary injunction against the ordinance.
